“Hip opening” is a widely requested theme in yoga classes, but the sedentary habits of modern life that contribute to tightness are best served by the opposite—stabilizing.

Join Ariele Foster, PT, DPT, E-RYT 500+, founder of YogaAnatomyAcademy.com, for a four-week live, virtual live (or on demand) workshop that will dive into foundational hip anatomy and practices that will cultivate strong, mobile hips.

CLASS FORMAT:

  • 60% lecture & discussion (approximate)
  • 40% practice (approximate)

 

CURRICULUM

Session 1: Review foundational hip anatomy, with a physical practice will examininge hip flexors and extensors (forward and backward motions of the hip). You’ll also look at the literature around stretching vs. strengthening. 

Session 2: Explore lateral and medial (side-to-side) stability and these muscles’ role in maintaining balance.

Session 3: Look at rotation of the hip, along with the role of these rotator muscles and mobility play in agility.   

Session 4: Tie together all direction of motion for a path forward to three-dimensional hip stability for life.
