Description
This product consists of 2 downloadable audio recordings (Mp3s) consisting of a total of 3 hours of instruction and a simple 1 page PDF. Recorded live July 2016 at Project Yoga Richmond
Workshop Description:
The shoulder girdle is comprised of 6 classical joints, and two pseudo-joints. Because of its complexity, yoga asana instruction often oversimplifies important actions in this region.
Since we spend significant time placing weight through the hands and therefore the shoulders in yoga, and it’s wise to be informed.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the anatomic structure and biomechanics of the shoulder girdle, and intelligent stabilization of this highly mobile joint.
This workshop is part discussion / lecture, and part practice to apply what we learn.
Listen in for self-care for shoulders and anatomy guided by doctor of physical therapy and long time yoga teacher, Ariele Foster. Though the anatomic portion is geared toward yoga and movement teachers, all will learn.
What percent of the time is dedicated to asana practice?
The majority of this audio recording (~2.5 hours out of 3 hours) involves lively lecture, Q+A and discussion. Asana Practice is sprinkled generously throughout, but this recording does not include a dedicated series of poses, instead “workshops” various components of poses.
What poses are included in this practice? This workshop discusses shoulder position in:
